About us

Who we are

Technobis Crystallization Systems is a world leading technology provider for solid-state research, process development and formulation.

Since 2005, our platforms for accelerating crystallization research have been successfully developed and installed in nearly every pharmaceutical research lab in the world. We have over 700 instrument units in the field, empowering a large community of scientists to make a significant contribution to the accelerated development of new pharmaceuticals. In the last few years, we have developed new applications in agrochemical, fine chemical, (bio) fuel research, food and personal care, creating new markets focused on understanding the importance of crystallization research.

We are driven to help research succeed.
Everything we do is designed by scientists, for scientists.

What we do

Our workflow consists of the CrystalBreeder, the Crystal16 and the Crystalline.

The CrystalBreeder™ is the first crystallizer dedicated for both development and discovery, carrying out complete crystallization screens with as little as 1mg of sample.

The Crystal16® parallel crystallizer is a multiple reactor station providing a screening solution for solubility determination, solid-state research and process development: medium-throughput crystallization studies at a 1ml scale.

With 8 independently controlled reactors and additional analytical capabilities, the Crystalline™ is a unique modular product line at a working volume of 5 ml for solid-state research, process development and formulation research.

History

Technobis Crystallization Systems is a pioneer in the field of solid state research and developed a number of unique and proprietary technologies.

Initially the company operated under the name of Avantium Crystallization Systems. Avantium Crystallization Systems was a subsidiary of Avantium Holding, a company founded in February 2000 as a spin-off from Shell. A unique consortium of strategic shareholders including Pfizer, GSK, Eastman Chemical, WR Grace and Akzo Nobel joined as strategic partners and invested in Avantium. The company focused on high-throughput experimentation with applications across a range of industries and created one of the most advanced chemical laboratories in the world. In January 2015, the company was acquired by its longtime engineering, development and manufacturing partner Technobis BV.

Technobis is a group of companies providing development and supply of high-tech instruments and modules for companies worldwide.

Technobis Crystallization Systems offices and headquarters are based in Alkmaar, The Netherlands.
